Tackling Rough Sleeping

Rough Sleepers - Our city has more rough sleepers on its streets than the next four highest London boroughs combined. That’s why I will continue to support the Council’s efforts to stop vulnerable people from becoming long-term rough sleepers by pressing the Government for greater powers to remove tents from public spaces.

Rein in Abuse of Short-Term Lets

Abuse of Short-Term Lets - There are over 8,300 Westminster properties and rooms listed on Airbnb at any one time. Westminster Council currently has little real power to regulate this growing industry. That’s why I will continue to make the case to the Government for effective enforcement powers to be given to the Council to bring down the number of what are effectively permanent short-lets.

Supporting our Young and Protecting our Streets

Safer Streets for Everyone - Serious crime in Westminster has risen steadily and is an issue at the forefront of many local people’s minds. Keeping our communities safe is a priority for me, which is why I will continue to work closely with the Metropolitan Police and my Home Office colleagues to get a grip of this worrying issue and reverse this unacceptable trend.
Air Quality

Cleaner Air and Tackling Climate Change

Clean Air for All - Countless studies showing the harm caused by toxic air are just too serious to ignore. The Government and the Council have both shown commendable commitment to tackling the problem of poor air and I promise to support them both at every turn to protect local people, and leave a legacy of clean air for future generations in the Cities of London and Westminster.

Campaign for a Lasting Reduction in Tube Noise

Tube Noise - Noise and vibrations from underground trains have had an intolerable effect on the quality of life for local people in pockets of the constituency. London Underground has been unwilling to take meaningful action to address this long-standing issue. That’s why I will continue my work with residents’ groups and stakeholders from across the cities to secure some long overdue action.
